Nubia’s latest high-end smartphone, the Z60 Ultra, offers a main camera with a much narrower field of view than most of its competitors.
The announcement was made somewhat on the sly at the end of December. This week, the Chinese manufacturer Nubia, specializing in gaming smartphones, launched a new model, the Nubia Z60 Ultra. But on closer inspection, the smartphone promises more than one trick up its sleeve.
A decidedly high-end smartphone
On paper, the Nubia Z60 Ultra already has strong arguments to make in the area of display or performance. It is in fact equipped with a 6.8-inch 120 Hz Oled display with a definition of 2480 x 1116 pixels as well as a latest generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip associated with 8, 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage. For the battery, this time you will have to count on an accumulator with a capacity of 6000 mAh. So far, we certainly have a high-end smartphone, but nothing but very classic compared to what competing manufacturers can offer on the market.
The most surprising finally comes from the photo block on the back of the Nubia Z60 Ultra. Nubia has in fact equipped its main camera with a 35mm equivalent lens.
Concretely, this means that shots with this camera will be much tighter than with a wide-angle module. standard » on smartphone, the length of which is generally between 24 and 28 mm.
A lens particularly appreciated by photographers
This choice is in fact explained on Nubia’s side by the love shown by photographers to the 35 mm focal length, particularly popular for photojournalists or street photographers. This is an ideal compromise between 50mm and 24mm. This is also one of the reasons why Apple now offers a virtual zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max at x1.16, to restore the field of vision of a 35 mm lens.
Nubia also didn’t do things by halves and decided to offer a wide aperture of f/1.19 on this lens and to associate it with a 50 megapixel Sony IMX800 photo sensor with a substantial 1/1 format. .49″.
In addition to this main wide-angle camera, the Nubia Z60 Ultra has a 50-megapixel 18mm equivalent ultra-wide-angle module and a 64-megapixel 85mm telephoto module for 2.4x zoom.
The Nubia Z60 Ultra is already available in France. It is available for pre-order at 750 euros in a 12/256 GB version.
