Justice knows Mahfoud H., the main suspect in the murder of young Sihem Belouahmia, well. A repeat offender, he was due to attend another trial on February 1, for robbery with a weapon dating back to 2011.

Mahfoud H., the alleged murderer of Sihem Belouahmia, has a heavy criminal record. On Thursday, February 2, the public prosecutor of Nîmes summarized it during a press conference. Born in the Gard, he chained convictions after being out of school at 14 years old. He is imprisoned for the first time before reaching the age of majorityas recalled The Dispatch. His criminal record counts thirteen convictions between 2001 and 2015 : “Five convictions for damage to property” and “eight convictions for acts related to driving vehicles”said the prosecutor.

His last conviction in 2012, increased to twelve years’ imprisonment for theft with a weapon, was reduced to nine years. The prosecutor indeed recalled that Mahfoud H. benefited from a “release on February 26, 2021”that is to say a release and an adjustment of the sentence. This measure is part of the general system of sentence reductions, which concerns anyone sentenced in France. This explains why the main suspect in Sihem’s murder was able to circulate freely, even without having finished with justice.
