That’s it: Google Play is making its debut on Windows 10 and Windows 11. At least, in a few countries for the moment. Enough to increase the already extremely well-stocked toy library of the Microsoft OS, even if we will have to wait a little longer before the application is officially available in Europe. For its part, Xiaomi offers more RAM to its new Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, while the Wi-Fi 7 standard reveals its full potential. Come on, let’s go for the recap of the day of January 20, 2021!

The Xiaomi 12 is entitled to a small RAM boost

The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro should soon arrive in France. In the meantime, the two models that are already marketed in China each benefit from 3 GB of additional RAM. No hardware modification is required: Xiaomi simply goes through a small software trick, which saves certain information normally provided for RAM on the internal storage space of the smartphone. Enough to offer 11 or 15 GB of RAM to the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.

Android games from the Google Play Store are coming to Windows 10 and 11

While it is already possible to launch Android applications natively under Windows 11, this functionality is currently quite limited. Impossible to do it from the Google Play Store, since you have to go through the Amazon Appstore or use APKs. But now the Mountain View giant has decided to develop its own software, and has made sure that it is not reserved for Windows 11, since it is also compatible with Windows 10. Good news, then: the Google Play is now available on both versions of the operating system. However, it is currently limited to a few regions of the world, such as South Korea or Taiwan. We now hope that it will arrive very soon in France.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard reveals its full potential

Although Wi-Fi 6 is only beginning to establish itself in our equipment, its successor is already knocking at the door. Wi-Fi 7 will offer a maximum speed of 30 Gb/s with the same number of antennas as Wi-Fi 6. According to Mediatek, the standard should allow a speed similar to what is currently found on Ethernet (the site does not specify the type of Ethernet, but we suspect that it is 1 Gb/s). The new standard should arrive in our devices in 2023… We can’t wait!
