Wiener Neustadt – Day of the Lieutenants: 101 new officers retired

In the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, 101 new officers were ceremoniously retired today. As part of the ceremony, which was attended by numerous foreign military attachés, among others, there was also a dynamic showcase of the armed forces.

After several years of training at university level, 70 professional officers and 31 militia officers of the “Baron Lenk von Wolfsberg” class have now completed their training at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt. Under a bright blue sky, the freshly retired lieutenants were ceremoniously accepted into the troops on Saturday afternoon in a ceremony on Maria-​Theresien-​Platz in the presence of the Federal President and the top command of the army When the various branches of the army were presented, the 101 officers marched in, including three women, as well as military bands and the honor guard formation Tanner, in view of the changed security policy situation caused by the Ukraine war, the need to modernize the federal army and to invest in its equipment. Not only numerous representatives of foreign military took part in the ceremony, but also guest students from foreign armies, who are being trained together with their Austrian comrades at the traditional military academy. During the ceremony, Defense Minister Klauda Tanner also announced that there would be another military parade in Wiener Neustadt next year. Some of the new officers came from Lower Austria and Burgenland. Together with their comrades from the other federal states, they will soon start their service in their new units – including the Panzergrenadier Battalion 35 in Großmittel (Lower Austria).
