Wild in the picture – Watch sea eagles with chicks in the live stream

According to the WWF, the white-tailed eagle was considered extinct in this country in 1946. Due to successful protective measures, the stock has been able to recover over the years – the population is currently estimated at 45 breeding pairs. For the second time now, WWF Austria and PANNATURA have managed to capture a white-tailed eagle nest in a live stream and thus gain exclusive insights into the breeding behavior of one of the largest bird of prey species in Europe. The stream is now freely available online here.

Together with other rare and strictly protected bird species, the eagles feel particularly comfortable in the habitats of PANNATURA (company of the Esterhazy Group) in the greater Neusiedler See area height. The webcam is solar powered and completely self-sufficient, so the nest dwellers are not disturbed. For a few weeks now, the sensitive birds of prey can be observed live via PC or mobile phone. On the move throughout EuropeIn the past two years, nesting eagles have also been successfully ringed and fitted with GPS transmitters. On the one hand, this serves to research the behavior of the birds of prey, but also to protect them, since the possible causes of death can be better identified thanks to the transmitter : “The return of the once extinct white-tailed eagle is a prime example of the effectiveness of conservation efforts. Such success stories are only possible if people preserve and restore natural habitats and consistently protect animals from persecution.”
