Wild Pixel 7a grip pops up on the web

Google definitely has a hard time keeping its secrets. After a Pixel Tablet sold on Facebook Marketplace before its release, it’s the turn of the Pixel 7a to reveal itself from every angle. A hands-on video posted on a Vietnamese Facebook group (and also visible on the SlashLeaks site) shows the future device in great detail.

According to the video recorded in a hurry, the Pixel 7a (mid-range mobile whose official announcement is probably expected at the next Google I/O in May) looks like two drops of water to the Pixel 7. This is not really a surprise, since the A ranges of Google often take up the design of the premium mobiles from which they are inspired. The smartphone, however, seems slightly more compact than its big brother, even if it sports thicker borders around the screen.

A confirmed 90 Hz screen

Several small technical information can be gleaned over this wild grip. First, we see that it is indeed a Pixel 7, as shown in the “About phone” menu. A DVT 1.0 designation (for design validation testing) is also visible, which means that the specimen manipulated is at a fairly advanced stage of development where technical prototyping has given way to aesthetic and ergonomic tests. We can also note in the menus the “Fluid display” option, which allows you to switch between refresh rates of 60 or 90 Hz. A first for the Pixel A series.

Finally, on the back of the mobile, we can observe the two photo modules which, according to the latest rumors, should point to 64 and 13 Mpx. The mobile should also support wireless charging, and embed a Google Tensor chip and a 1080p screen. If Google manages to maintain a price below 500 € (as for the Pixel 6a), this mobile could well be an ace in terms of quality/price ratio.
