Wildflower Interactive: Bruce Straley (ex-Naughty Dog) announces the creation of his own video game studio

Known in particular for his work on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, The Last of Us or Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, it had been a while since Bruce Straley had been talked about. Five years after leaving Naughty Dog, the American developer has returned to the spotlight by announcing the foundation of his own video game studioWildflower Interactive.

A first project in preparation

As he explains in a video shared yesterday on social networks, “In 2017, I left the industry not knowing if I didn’t want to make games anymore. But the longer I was away, the more I thought […] to all that remained to be done and to all that I still wanted to do. And this idea kept following me. So I called a few friends and we started prototyping. And the idea started to catch on. It started to get exciting again! And I realized that I had to make this game.”

He adds this: “But if I want to make this game, that means I have to build a team. And if I’m building a team, I have to build a business. And, if we want to do that, then we have to do it the right way. It must be inclusive, fair and collaborative. […] I am thrilled to announce our new company, Wildflower Interactive! And we have a great partner who supports what we do and who is going to help us reach the widest possible audience. »

Note that, unsurprisingly, Bruce Straley has not shared any concrete information about this project that is currently in production or the identity of this partner. All that is known at the moment is that the team he is talking about is hosting people having worked on licenses Call of Duty, Pathless, Abzu and Kena: Bridge of Spirits and that he is already looking to expand it by recruiting in various fields (audio designer, VFX artist, programmer…). To be continued.
