Will buying on Vinted become more risky after PayPal withdraws?

Vinted has just removed, without explanation, PayPal from its means of payment. A choice that worries many users of the very popular sales application between individuals.

Credit card or PayPal: so far, many Vinted users had the choice to pay for their purchases. Since yesterday, Thursday May 25, this is no longer the case: the electronic wallet is no longer listed among the payment options in the app. A choice that immediately aroused the concern, even the anger, of certain regulars of the marketplace specializing in the sale of second-hand clothing between individuals.

PayPal, indeed, presents many advantages for online buyers and online sellers. An example: it allows you to pay for your purchase in 4 payments, free of charge. On the seller side, using PayPal allows you to immediately benefit from the funds.

But its strengths are above all read safety. It allows you to avoid, first of all, sharing your bank card number, sensitive information particularly sought after by fraudsters. Above all, the portfolio incorporates a purchase protection, which promises to be reimbursed if the product purchased is not delivered or if it does not correspond to the description. According to the testimony of some buyers, reports in particular by Numramathe service offered by PayPal was much faster and more efficient than its equivalent at Vintedbuyer protection, plus an invoice of 0.70 euros per purchase + 5% of the price of the item.

Result? Following Vinted’s announcement, some Internet users reacted very strongly, some calling for a boycott.

Why Vinted chose to do without PayPal? To date, she has not communicated her reasons. Asked by Le Parisien, the application of Lithuanian origin only explained to hear the questions expressed and said to strive to understand what works best for users. The withdrawal of PayPal, however, seems final: the page dedicated to this method of payment on its site has already been deleted.
