Will Final Fantasy 16 only have one playable character? We finally have the answer!

It seems like Final Fantasy XVI will feature another playable character than Clive Rosfieldeven if only for a short time.

Another playable character?

If we thought that Clive Rosfield, eldest son of the Archduke of Rosaria, would be the only person we would play in FF16, it turns out that a second playable character will come to accompany us on the adventure. the game creative director, Kazutoyo Maehiroconfirmed that there will be a short period during which players will control another person.

Indeed, it would seem that during the “early phases” of the game, players will take on the role of another character. The identity of this character is being kept under wraps at this time, but Kazutoyo Maehiro compared the situation to that of Final Fantasy XII, where players take on the role of a character by the name of reks for a little while.

The more the merrier

Clive will however remain the main character of Final Fantasy XVI. It will of course also be accompanied by other “party members” as they are called, that is to say characters who will be part of the hero’s team and who will come to lend him a hand during the fights.

Naoki Yoshidabetter known by the nickname of Yoshi-Pconfirmed that party members will be controlled by AI and cannot be embodied by the player, in order to allow him to focus on Clive. Party members follow Clive and fight on their own, without the player needing to intervene.

According to Yoshi-P, the development of FF16 would be practically finished, and the game would already be playable several times. He also said he was convinced that the studio created a quality game.

As a reminder, Final Fantasy XVI will be a PS5 exclusive for six months. before being launched on other platforms.

New round of some world publications for the team at the bedside of FF16 led by the charismatic Naoki Yoshida. On the program, a lot of new information on Square Enix’s PS5 exclusivity scheduled for next summer and a communication hiccup.
