Will Shadow of the Erdtree DLC be harder than Elden Ring?


In an interview with Eurogamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki, head of the FromSoftware studio, gave some additional details on Shadow of the Erdtreethe extension ofElden Ring.

The first trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, the expansionElden Ring, has been released and it is sensational. These few minutes allow us to glean some interesting details about the content. A dozen bosses in the Elden Ring DLC, some as strong as Malenia

Hidetaka Miyazaki indicates that the difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree will be comparable to what we experienced in the last hours ofElden Ring. Will the bosses be as strong as Malenia, a nightmare for many players? โ€œ Those looking for a comparable challenge will find it in the DLC โ€œ, he admits. There will be around ten bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree.

To compensate, we will have new ways to defend ourselves. On this point, Hidetaka Miyazaki concedes: โ€œ We wanted to integrate these tough and threatening encounters and, to do so, we had to offer players more freedom in the approach. We want them to be free in how they approach challenges and, also, when they do it. ยป

Because Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be structured around a new open area, the size of which surpasses the very first region of the base game. There will always be vast areas to traverse, as well as dungeons to explore. However, FromSoftware has worked on the architecture so that the transition between these two types of environments is more natural. As with bosses and weapons, the idea is to always offer more variety (spoiler: there will be a poisoned swamp, and we already hate it). Finally, Shadow of the Erdtree will be the biggest DLC ever designed by the studio.
