On March 27, during the 94th ceremony of the high mass of American cinema, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage. A few minutes earlier, the comedian had dared to joke about the shaved head of Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia. “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth”, launched him the comedian, who won the Oscar for best actor, had to hit him. And this Wednesday, November 30, Will Smith made his comeback on the red carpet. Smiling, on the arm of Jada Pinkett Smith, the actor was present for the premiere of his new film, Emancipation, in Los Angeles. The famous family of the 54-year-old artist, his wife but also his children Trey, Willow and Jaden, gathered around him to support him during the screening. For the occasion, the actor had put on his 31 by donning an elegant fitted brown three-piece suit worn with a pale pink buttoned shirt. By her side, Jada Pinkett Smith dazzled the audience in an asymmetrical dress white dress by Stéphane Rolland with long sleeves, rhinestone details and a turtleneck that suited her perfectly.
Will Smith: “I was going through a rough patch”
The Hollywood star has embarked on an extensive apology tour in recent weeks while promoting his new movie. A few days ago on the set of The Daily Show, Will Smith claimed that he “had just lost his mind” when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars. “I freaked out. There was this rage that had been locked up inside me for a very long time.explained the actor. I was going through a rough patch that night. But that in no way justifies what I did. This is not the person I want to be. I understand how shocking it may have been for people.” The actor explained that he was upset by the reaction of his 9-year-old nephew, shocked by his gesture.
“It was total confusion. I don’t want to say too much not to add even more incomprehension (…) I was going through a terrible period at the time of this evening”, he added. Away for several months from the film industry, Will Smith hopes that this gesture will have no influence on his new film and on the team of Antoine Fuqua’s feature film in which he plays a man who flees slavery in the UNITED STATES. “My primary concern is the film crew. My dearest wish is that my actions do not penalize the crew. At this point, that’s what I’m working onassured Will Smith on television.
