The life of Will Smith could soon be made into a film. And the interest in the material seems to be very high.
Hollywood star Will Smith (53) has been nominated for an Oscar for best actor for his leading role in the biopic “King Richard”. It is quite possible that his own life story will soon be filmed. According to “The Sun”, there should be a bidding war for the rights. The film will be based on the actor’s autobiography, “Will”. The book was published last year and became a great success.
According to “The Sun”, several streaming services are said to be fighting to be able to implement the film. The conversation should therefore be an eight-digit sum for the rights. The British newspaper quoted an unspecified source: “Some feared that Will’s brutal honesty in his book could damage his reputation.” However, the opposite happened. It “helped the actor connect with his audience like never before.”
Biopic already planned?
“When he signed his book deal, he did so with an accompanying biopic in mind,” the insider said. The bidding war for the rights means that Will Smith has all the options and can find out which prospect will treat his life story most carefully.
“Given that it’s going to be so personal, it’s a tricky one for Will. He wants to make sure it’s done right and nothing is rushed, regardless of the money,” the source said, according to The Sun. In addition to the career of the musician and actor from Philadelphia, the book also deals with personal problems, including with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith (50). Will Smith has been married to her since 1997. The couple have two children: Jaden Smith (23) and Willow Smith (21). Will Smith’s son Trey Smith (29) comes from a previous marriage.
