The Academy of Oscars has released its decision on Will Smith after the 2022 Oscars slap case.
On March 27, Will Smith created a scandal after slapping Chris Rock in the middle of the Oscars ceremony because of a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.
Since then, the American comedian has apologized and resigned himself from the Academy of Oscars, anticipating the sanction of the organizers.
The board of directors finally delivered its verdict after the disciplinary procedure opened against the artist.
WILL SMITH BANNED FROM THE OSCARS
The latter is now banned from participating in any Oscar ceremony for a period of 10 years.
“I accept and respect the decision of the Academy”reacted Will Smith in a press release.
Right after attacking Chris Rock, Will Smith won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in The Williams Method. He will therefore not present the statuette for best actress next year, as is the tradition of the ceremony.
