The latter made fun of the very short haircut of the latter, except that he did not know that she suffered from a disease which made her lose her hair. The comedian then went on stage and violently slapped the comedian. A few minutes later, he went on stage, this time, to receive his first Oscar in the category of best actor. Only, his reward did not make us forget the gesture he had had towards Chris Rock. Since then, reactions and comments have been numerous.
He has therefore decided to make a big decision, as he announced in a press release, Friday, April 1, 2022. “My actions at the 94th Academy Awards were shocking, painful and inexcusable“, he wrote at first before continuing: “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and My relativeseveryone who was in the audience or at home“. Thereby, he announced his resignation from his position as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Will Smith may have anticipated Academy sanction
“I will accept any consequences the board deems appropriate“, he further assured. By taking this decision, the famous 53-year-old actor may have anticipated the sanction that the Academy would have imposed on him. Indeed, he risked his suspension or his exclusion, which counts nearly of 10,000 members.
