Through a publication on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the date of the next Meta Connect, set for October 11.
This conference promises to be centered on virtual reality, with in particular the probable presentation of the company’s new high-end VR headset: Project Cambria, or Meta Quest Pro for friends.
A Meta Connect centered on the Quest Pro?
The annual meeting of Mark Zuckerberg’s company therefore returns the same month as its previous edition, and more exactly on October 11. It will be held exclusively in a virtual format and streamed live on the Reality Labs Facebook page. An official website, cited in source below, is already online, but is quite sparse in information.
However, we can speculate on the announcements that will take place there. Among the most plausible and expected, we have the famous Project Cambria, the code name for Meta’s high-end VR headset which could presumably be called Quest Pro. Mark Zuckerberg’s post to announce the event may have spilled the beans, with a photo of him wearing a black helmet, not a white one like the Quest 2.
If the latest rumors are to be believed, the Meta Quest Pro should offer a much higher resolution than its big brother and integrate not only virtual reality, but also augmented reality. It should also be lighter thanks to a Mini-LED display. However, you should not expect a light price, because it should a priori exceed the symbolic bar of 1,000 euros.
Overview of Meta Connect
If the Quest Pro will be at the heart of the conference, we already know that Meta Horizon Worlds, the group’s metaverse, will also be there. Mark Zuckerberg made the promise following an unsolicited presentation of the project when it was launched in France and Spain.
This is an additional opportunity for the CEO of Meta to try to motivate the crowds to join this virtual world which is still struggling to convince. For the time being quite empty and visually unattractive, the metaverse may therefore have a chance to shine on October 11th.
In any case, it would be a rather clever way to kill two birds with one stone, presenting the Meta Quest Pro from all angles, before putting it to the test on the company’s flagship project.
