Will we all pay with Bitcoin in the future? Interview with Alexander Bechtel

One thing is clear: in the race for the most commonly used means of payment, fiat currencies, as legal means of payment with government blessing, have a decisive advantage. But the competition between currencies is far from over. Bitcoin is of course ideally suited as a store of value, according to monetary theorist Alexander Bechtel in an interview. But who is willing to spend deflationary money and thereby deprive themselves of future profits? One suspects: the topic is complex.

Are CBDCs the future of payments?

The CBDCs – digital central bank currencies – are more suitable for payment than BTC. But where exactly does paying with CBDCs differ from today’s fiat-based payment methods such as debit cards? And which niche do stablecoins like Tether (USDT) or USDCoin (USDC) occupy in the end?

BTC-ECHO editor David Scheider discusses this and more with Alexander Bechtel.

Enjoy listening.
