Elisabeth Borne presents the two texts of the bill on purchasing power. Among the measures proposed by the government, the revaluation of the Macron bonus could save much more money for the French.

The purchasing power of the French becomes the priority of Emmanuel Macron’s second term. This Thursday, July 7, the Prime Minister presents, during the Council of Ministers, two texts of the bill on purchasing power, the budget of which is estimated at around 25 billion euros. The goal ? Relieve the portfolio of the French heavily impacted by inflation. Among the very many proposals of the Borne government, such as the increase in retirement pensions and social benefits, the revaluation of the Macron bonus, also called the exceptional purchasing power bonus (PEPA). An increase or rather a tripled bonus. Indeed, if the bill passes, to the Council of Ministers then to the National Assembly and finally to the Senate, it will go from 2,000 euros to 6,000 euros net tax for companies with profit-sharing agreements and those with fewer than 50 employees. For other companies, the aid will be 3,000 euros instead of 1,000 euros.

A big boost for the French. However, companies seem to be cautious when it comes to paying the Macron bonus. According to the Ministry of Public Accounts, in 2021, on average an employee would have received only 506 euros of these rightsagainst the 1,000 authorized.
