“Sex and the City” star Willie Garson died on Tuesday afternoon after a brief illness at the age of 57. As the “People” magazine reports on, the US actor suffered from pancreatic cancer and was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

Willie Garson played Stanford Blatch, Sarah Jessica Parker’s (56) best friend, the role of Carrie Bradshaw, in the HBO series “Sex and the City” (1998-2004) and its spin-offs in 2008 and 2010.

Willie Garson leaves behind a son. Nathen Garson (born 2001) took some photos and videos on Instagram Taking leave. “I love you so much, papa,” he wrote, among other things. “You were always the strongest, funniest and smartest person I knew. I’m glad you shared your love with me. I will never forget or lose it.”

Numerous colleagues mourn the actor

In the upcoming reboot “And Just Like That …”, which is expected to be released in 2022, Willie Garson can also be seen. He was photographed on the New York set of the spin-off with Parker and Mario Cantone (61), who played Garson’s husband Anthony Marentino. Cantone shared a tribute to Garson on Instagram and said he was “devastated” over the death of his co-star. “I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed by sadness,” wrote Cantone. “You were taken from us all too soon. You were a gift from the gods, sweet Willie. Rest in peace … I love you.”

Kim Cattrall, 65, known as Samantha Jones from “SATC” tweeted: “Such sad news and a terribly sad loss for the ‘SATC’ family.”

Cynthia Nixon (55), who plays the role of Miranda Hobbs, explained on Twitter: “We all loved him and enjoyed working with him. He was so funny on screen and in real life.”

In addition to “SATC”, Willie Garson also appeared in the films “Real Love” (1993), “Crazy About Mary” (1998) and “Freaky Friday” (2003). He mimed roles in the series “White Collar” from 2009 to 2014 and “Hawaii Five-0” from 2015 to 2020. “White Collar” colleague Matt Bomer (43) shared a series of photos with his co-star on Instagram. “I still can’t make friends with a world without you – where I can’t call you when I want to laugh or get inspiration,” he wrote. “Reserve a seat for me because you know I want to sit up there at your table.” The “White Collar” family is always there for Garson’s son Nathen.

Actor Ben Stiller (55) also broadcast Nathen “Liebe”. “Your father was strong and respected in his fellow actors”, he tweeted.

Willie Garson said goodbye to his followers

Willie Garson himself was last active on social media on September 4th. He tweeted: “Be nice to each other …… always. Love for everyone. Approach kindness.”
