The last month of 2022 is not letting up on the effort and the Disney+, Netflix, Canal+ and Amazon Prime Video streaming platforms still have some nice surprises in store for us among their new features. Digital offers you its selection of films and series to watch on these services during the week of November 28, 2022.

This week, we recommend the series Willow and Rogue Heroesas well as movies Ambulance, Robert Downey Sr. and Basic Instinct.

Willow (Disney+)

Years after aspiring magician Willow helped end the reign of an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness, the adventure continues. An unlikely group of heroes, accompanied by the magician, embark on a dangerous quest to remote lands, during which they will have to face their inner demon and unite to save their world.

Sequel to the cult 1988 film, this series of heroic fantasy benefits from a neat artistic direction and successful visual effects, signed by the little geniuses of Lucasfilm (Star Wars, IndianaJones). Yes, the series is frustratingly frustrating with its purring pace, tightly knit narrative and half-fulfilled ambitions, but Willow remains a pleasant entertainment, with a cast of new talents with beautiful chemistry. From November 30 on Disney+.

Rogue Heroes (Canal+)

Hospitalized after a training exercise gone wrong, officer David Stirling thinks traditional commando units aren’t working. He then hatches a radical plan and fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest, brightest soldiers, and set up a small secret unit that will wreak havoc behind enemy lines: the SAS.

The new series from Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, is a fun and uninhibited look back at the creation of one of the most famous units in Her Majesty’s Army. On the program: six episodes mixing impressive war sequences, comic scenes, caricatural nickel-plated feet characters and rock’n’roll. The casting so british (Alfie Allen, Connor Swindells, Jack O’Connell, Dominic West) makes up for the lack of finesse of a pleasant show that is worth seeing. From December 1 on Canal+ and the myCanal platform.

Basic Instinct (Prime Video)

Inspector Nick Curran investigates the murder of a rock star, Johnny Boz, killed with an ice pick by a stranger while he was making love. The policeman learns that the singer was dating Catherine Tramell, a rich and brilliant novelist, and during his investigation, he realizes the novelist’s troubled past filled with suspicious corpses.

30 years after its release, Basic Instinct remains one of the major references of the erotic thriller genre, and it did not usurp its reputation. Director Paul Verhoeven (Starship Troopers, Robocop) signs a thriller where blood and sex, horror and desire intertwine in a fascinating ballet. At its center, the face-to-face between Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone is a peak of tension and impulses. A safe bet to see and see again without hesitation. Starting December 2 on Amazon Prime Video.

Ambulance (Canal+)

When his wife’s medical bills turn out to be unpayable, a US Army veteran decides the only option is to rob a bank with his brother. The two get their hands on the money and hijack an ambulance which carries a cop fighting for his life and a paramedic. A high-speed chase ensues and the brothers must find a way to get out while keeping their hostages alive.

Michael Bay (Rock, bad boys) puts the intensity and mastery of its staging at the service of an overexcited chase that never drops in tension. It twirls, it explodes and it rushes to the ground in a great jubilant maelstrom that will leave you hanging on your chair. The whole obviously lacks finesse, and the American imagery will make you roll your eyes. That said, Ambulance remains an intense and unique experience. From December 2 on Canal+ and the myCanal platform.
