Become an Explorer: the adventure begins
It starts with the “Explorer Team” by Björn Berenz and Christoph Dittert – a book that is definitely not for lazy people. Here you have to solve puzzles and crack codes. As a reader you become part of the Explorer Team and go on a mission to the Himalayas together with Lias, Mojo and Cookie. Lias’ father disappeared there six months ago, only his expedition diary gives clues about his fate.
In the “Explorer Team” the readers are right in the thick of it instead of just being there. Puzzle fans from 8 years of age get their money’s worth. Each volume contains a new, colorfully illustrated diary with riddles and tips for puzzling, doodling, cutting and handicrafts. For all fans of escape rooms and exit games. And: All volumes can be read independently of one another.

Waka-how, waka-where, waka-who, waka-what?
For younger readers, but no less adventurous, the “Wakatiki” continues. The blue creature with red fire hair and a bulbous nose reaches a strange beach after a long journey in his boat. In search of food and a dry place to sleep, the “locals” encounter him with fear and rejection. As friendly as the Wakatiki asks, it is rejected everywhere – until suddenly a violent storm threatens to flood the country …
The “Wakatiki” is a beautifully illustrated picture book from the local Vermes Verlag, which has been successfully making children’s hearts sing for years with the singing catchy tune “Bakabu”. With the blue creature Wakatiki, Jackie Goldmann tells a funny and at the same time heartwarming story about a trip abroad. In wonderful rhymes, children from 3 years of age are brought closer to topics such as helpfulness, altruism and the value of sharing without being instructive.

Exciting potato thriller
The next reading tip, the children’s comic “Yasmina and the potato crisis”, is also lovingly illustrated. Yasmina is 11 years old, lives with her father in modest circumstances and is still always in good spirits. Her special passion: She loves healthy vegan food and is a very creative cook. On the way to school, she picks herbs every day, and two friends provide her with fresh vegetables – until the day their vegetable garden is leveled and replaced with a field of genetically modified potatoes.
From this starting point, Wauter Mannaerts cooks a true potato thriller that is bursting with wit and energy. Because with a range of products made exclusively from these potatoes, a mysterious company wants to gain a commercial monopoly over the food market. And this new type of potato is even addictive. Clearly: Yasmina has to take action against it! The great comic book is complemented by Yasmina’s potato-based bento recipes. Have fun cooking at home!

Sherlock Holmes’ clever sister is investigating
If you like crime novels, we recommend the next reading tip: The comic adaptation of the novels by Nancy Springer about Sherlock Holmes’ clever sister Enola! The junior investigator needs all her ingenuity and acumen to trace her missing mother back in London. Not an easy task when her own brothers want to send her to boarding school so that she can become a real lady. And then Enola gets involved in the kidnapping of a young lord …
A really successful comic version of the popular novels, told in detailed pictures. The story of Volume 1, “The Fall of the Missing Lord”, was a streaming hit last year as a film on Netflix. The comic adaptation of “Enola Holmes” is a real treat for all crime thriller fans, both young and young at heart. Volume 2 of the adventures of the clever sister of Sherlock Holmes has already been announced for September.

Scary scary scary stories
Attention, with the next reading tip it will be creepy when Gregs ‘best friend Rupert (from the popular children’s book series “Gregs’ Diary”) reads a few scary (but of course also hilarious) scary stories in his new book for the third time.
If you dare, grab a flashlight, crawl under the covers and immerse yourself in Rupert’s funny horror stories. Author Jeff Kinney tells about zombies, vampires, ghosts and other scary characters, such as the prank player or the biter. If that’s scary now, maybe you should read something that isn’t quite as creepy. After all, there are some good books about unicorns and puppies too. You are warned!

The young fantasy highlight from Austria
The Fairyland Verlag from Lower Austria, which relies on high-quality children’s books in the fantasy genre printed in Austria, was already presented by krone.at last year. Now with the continuation of the really famous “Fabelflug-Chroniken” by Claudia Aichholzer, there is finally new fantastic reading material from the Gnome City.
In “The Hunt for the Big Munch”, the young, curious tinkerer Poppie Dropps has to deal with the trolls. An encounter on a night expedition will change the life of the little gnom and that of the trolls forever. Whether the voracious beast that makes the jungle more and more unsafe has something to do with it?
One thing is certain: Fantastic new worlds with supernatural and magical beings form the framework for adventure stories that want to sensitize, strengthen and inspire children in their being and doing. With Volume 2, the “Fabelflug Chronicles” secure a permanent place among the domestic fantasy highlights. Seldom do you find such beautifully illustrated stories in a splendid presentation that are 100 percent “Made in Austria”!
