Wind power at sea: the installation of the 80 wind turbines of the Saint-Nazaire park completed

This park should make it possible to produce the equivalent of 20% of the annual electricity consumption of the Loire-Atlantique department.

The installation of the 80 wind turbines of the Saint-Nazaire park, which will be the first offshore wind farm in France, was completed on Monday, which will allow full commissioning by the end of 2022, announced Tuesday the director of the park. “The foundations are all installed, the cables are all installed and the last wind turbine is somewhere, the end of the shell“Summarized to AFP Olivier de La Laurencie, director of the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.

Work to connect the park began in 2019, then installation at sea from spring 2021. These 80 wind turbines, with a power of 480 MW, are located between 12 and 20 km from the coast, off the Loire -Atlantic. The wind turbines were commissioned one after the other, so “since the spring, we have been feeding electricity into the national grid.
