The boot menu of Windows 10 and Windows 11 allows the selection of the operating system for multi-boot installations. So you can activate the boot menu.

The boot menu of Windows 11 and Windows 10 is usually activated automatically when several Windows versions or operating systems are installed in parallel.

For example, if you install Linux Mint on the same computer as Windows 10 or Windows 11, you can use the boot menu to select which of the two operating systems you want to load when you start the computer.

If one of the installed systems starts automatically instead, you must first activate the boot menu. It should be noted that you can only see the boot menu after the computer has been completely shut down.

Instead of the Windows boot menu, you can also use an alternative boot manager for such dual-boot or multi-boot systems. The boot menu of Windows 11 or Windows 10 is completely sufficient as a simple selection menu in the classic Windows design.

The boot menu has to be distinguished from the “advanced boot options”, which are sometimes colloquially also referred to as the boot menu.
