Microsoft is gradually unplugging all versions of Windows 10. This time, it is the business world that is targeted with the end of support for version 21H2 released in 2021.

The definitive death of Windows 10 is announced for 2025. But this concerns the very latest version of the system. Until then, Microsoft will clean up the machines that are not necessarily kept up to date. On a web page published on March 11, the software publisher notably announced the end of life of version 21H2 of its system for June 2024.

Endgame for Business

If you have a feeling of déjà vu, it’s normal. The “classic” version of Windows 10 21H2 has already been released by Microsoft in mid-2023. This new deadline of June 2024 actually concerns the “Business”, “Education” and “IOT” editions, tailor-made versions which generally benefit from a longer support time to meet specific needs.

But from June 11 precisely, these versions of Windows will no longer receive updates either and will therefore be (even more than currently) at the mercy of viruses, malware and other ransomware. Microsoft indicates that customers who contact customer service will be advised to update their machines to the latest version of Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Because yes, version 21H2 of the system is starting to show its age. Released in November 2021, it has since been replaced by version 22H2, the deployment of which took place during the month of October 2022. Unlike Windows 11, this version does not arrive with new hardware requirements and can be installed on the same machine that runs version 21H2.

Windows 10 will die in 2025

This version, which is the last with the “Windows 10” seal, will indeed be supported until October 2025, if we are to believe the forecast schedule communicated by Microsoft. No difference between the versions here, whether your machine is running on the “Home”, “Pro”, “Business” or “Education” branch, the updates will end on October 14, 2025 regardless.
