Windows 10: Update KB5014666 brings new features and bug fixes

With KB5014666, Microsoft has released another optional update, more precisely a preview of the upcoming cumulative update, for Windows 10 20H2, Windows 10 21H1 and Windows 10 21H2. So KB5014666 is part of the monthly “C Update” for June 2022.

That brings the update

KB5014666 fixes various known issues, such as an issue that resulted in not being able to use the Wifi hotspot feature. The update also brings new features for printing and scanning, such as support for the Internet Print Protocol (IPP) on USB printers. You can print out documents on a Windows print server directly via HTTP using the Internet Print Protocol. Microsoft has supported IPP for network printers since 2018, but with this update Microsoft now also supports IPP over USB.

After installing KB5014666, the build numbers of the Windows 10 versions change:

Windows 10 20H2 Build 19042.1806

Windows 10 21H1 Build 19043.1806

Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044.1806.

How to get the update

Like all “C updates”, KB5014666 is not installed by default on Windows computers, but interested users must install KB5014666 manually. To do this, go to the Windows settings and there to the “Update and security” area and manually search for updates by clicking on “Check for updates”. Then install KB5014666 from the hit list.
