As you may know, in September 2022 Microsoft launched Windows 11 22H2, the latest version available to date of its operating system. With this version, the manufacturer has brought various new features to improve ergonomics, productivity, accessibility or even gaming on its OS.

Well, not everything went as planned since the update also harbored a few bugs, such as these in-game performance drops or these problems with the task manager. However, as reported by our colleagues from the Windows Latest site, a new problem affects File Explorer this time.

File Explorer tabs have a problem

With Windows 11 22H2, the Redmond company has integrated a long-awaited feature: tabs on File Explorer. With it, users can manage multiple files in a single File Explorer window, saving valuable time. Simply click on the + icon in the tab bar to open a new one within the same window.

Everything seemed to work perfectly, but there is a catch. According to several users, integration of tabs in File Explorer is buggy. As evidenced by several posts on the Feedback Hub, it sometimes happens that File Explorer opens on its own when another program is running.

Whenever I have a File Explorer window (or more) in the background, but visible to me, then I open another application on top of it, for example Edge or Firefox, and I leaves it there for a few minutes, the last File Explorer window pops up out of nowhere above the app. It takes over without me doing anything”, says a user.

According to Windows Latest sources, the issue is known to Microsoft, although the company has yet to make an official statement on the subject. Despite everything, the firm is currently working on a fix for this bug, without us having a precise release date.
