As you may know, Microsoft rolled out Windows 22H2 update in September 2022. With this update, the manufacturer has made various improvements to the latest version of its OS, but unfortunately some bugs have spoiled the user experience.

Some have reported performance issues in games and applications. Very quickly, Microsoft recognized the problem, stating that Windows 11 could trigger additional software processes that can result in significant performance drops : “Affected games and applications inadvertently enable GPU performance debugging features that are not intended for consumer use.

In the process, the Redmond company decided to block the download of the 22H2 update on a set of systems affected by these bugs. Finally, these problems were fixed with the deployment of a patch on November 30, 2022. In parallel, the company announced that the block introduced was lifted on a subset of systems having protective conservation number 41990091.

Some PCs will have to wait before downloading the latest Windows 11 22H2 update

As a reminder, when Microsoft determines that a device is not ready to update due to a known issue, the manufacturer generates what is called protective conservation in order to delay the upgrade and protect the end user experience. However, we have just learned that the PCs affected by the protection conservation number 41766570 were still under blocking.

Indeed, here is what Microsoft states on its official website: “This issue has been resolved in update K5020044. It is estimated that the protective conservation will be removed by mid-December 2022″. In other words, it seems that those whose systems under protection conservation 41766570 will have to wait a little longer before downloading the patch, at least until mid-December. Moreover, Microsoft advises against manually downloading the update if it is not offered to you by Windows Update.
