Over the course of updates, the bugs of Windows 11 are connected and do not resemble each other.

A few days ago, we took the opportunity to draw the first assessment of Windows 11, more than a year after its launch. If, since then, the OS has encountered some difficulties in achieving unanimity, Microsoft has just confirmed the presence of a (new) bug which appeared following the publication of 22H2. And this time, it’s the task manager that’s in the spotlight…

Soon full of new features for the task manager

Over the past month, we’ve been learning about what’s coming to Task Manager. Relatively identical for a number of years, the “Task Manager”, so named in the language of Shakespeare, is preparing to take advantage of its passage under Windows 11 22H2 to welcome its share of new features.

After getting a makeover on the occasion of the release of the first “big” Windows 11 update, the task manager will soon allow you to search for processes using keywords, configure the dark fashion regardless of the theme of your computer or to activate an “Efficiency” mode, designed to reduce energy consumption by limiting, in particular, the performance of the PC.

But while waiting for the Redmond firm to decide to make these beautiful promises a reality, the task manager has been encountering a display bug for a few days, to say the least… embarrassing.

Task Manager faced with a bug on Windows 11

The information comes to us from Microsoft and is relayed to us by our colleagues from Ghacks. Since the release of the KB5020044 update for Windows 11 22H2, a few days ago now, the latest version of the operating system of the American company is facing a bug that directly affects the user interface of the task manager.

In fact, we find capricious visual elements that can cause display errors to the point of making certain texts unreadable. The Task Manager may also, in some cases, display in colors other than those it usually displays. A bug that had already been spotted in the Dev Channel of Windows 11, but which could not be corrected before its large-scale deployment.

Finally, note that this unfortunate problem can still be circumvented. To do this, all you have to do is go to your PC settings and make dark mode or light mode your default theme. The bug only affects those who use a custom theme within Windows 11. Pending the publication of a patch from Microsoft, probably around mid-December, you now know what what you have left to do.
