Windows 11 24H2 update scheduled for fall will block apps considered harmful to your PC’s performance

Expected in the coming months, Windows 11 24H2 update should significantly shake up the Windows ecosystem with the integration of new features.

For example, we will find a new “Super Resolution” function and various AI-boosted features, with a deployment which could take place as early as April (in RTM version), but without integrating all the new features. The full version should be deployed at the start of the next school year.

Applications soon to be blocked by Windows 11?

However, this upcoming Windows 11 update (which we tested here) should also draw a line under certain third-party applications, notably those which allow more customization. The American giant will block StartAllBack in particular, but also other similar applications, such as ExplorerPatcher.

With Windows 11 in 24H2 version, users will be greeted with the following message: “ This application cannot be run because it has security or performance issues on Windows. A new version may be available “.

Security and performance concerns according to Microsoft

A form of blocking which is already giving rise to numerous criticisms of Microsoft, which cites reasons of security, but also performance. Still, the blockage can be circumvented by uninstalling the application in question, and reinstalling it with a renamed executable file.

Obviously, if this trick works at the moment, future updates of Microsoft’s OS could put an end to it, as mentioned by the developer of StartAllBack. Currently, on Windows 11 23H2, both apps install and launch without any warning.

The future 24H2 version of Windows 11 could therefore cause some problems for all those who use third-party applications to personalize the interface of the American OS. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will maintain the current trend, or whether the American giant will authorize their use, while warning the user of the potential dangers involved.
