Windows 11: a very annoying bug prevents clicking on the Start menu

Windows 10 and 11 are victims of a very annoying bug, which makes it impossible to interact with the Start menu and the taskbar. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is investigating the matter. Fortunately, only a handful of users are affected.

Some Windows users are victims of a very annoying bug. They can’t click on the taskbar, open the start menu, or even type in the search bar. A concern that concerns both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Don’t panic, only a minority of PCs are affected and there is a solution.

This bug is the consequence of a conflict between Barco Developer’s ClickShare application and Windows Calendar. This software is not trivial, since it is widely used by companies to organize visios, easily connecting the different cameras and microphones in a conference room.

Windows 11 bug, but the problem can easily be circumvented

The Barco company claims that the problem does not come from them, but from Microsoft after a Windows update. The Redmond firm is also aware of the problem and is investigating the subject. If all goes well, everything should be back to normal in the next few days. However, this bug is very disabling, the start menu and the taskbar being essential to navigation in Windows. In the meantime, Barco has a solution: in the app settings, just disable calendar sharing with Outlook. By doing so, the taskbar will be accessible again, phew.

This concern mainly concerns the professional world, but everyone who uses ClickShare can be affected. In any case, it’s always good to know that Microsoft is working on the problem. The latter would have been caused, according to Barco, by a minor change made within the Windows calendar. A detail, certainly, but which can penalize many users.

Those concerned will have to watch for Windows updates in the coming days. The beneficial update should install automatically during a restart, but it is always possible to force the download in the operating system settings.
