The new version of Outlook will soon welcome a multitude of new features on Windows 11including the highly anticipated AI assistant Copilot.

Officialized by Microsoft last year, the new version of its famous Outlook email client finally took its first steps this summer among Windows 11 insider members. If this version is not yet unanimous among users, it should definitely replace the Mail and Calendar apps by the end of next year.

Well aware that its messaging does not yet meet all expectations, the Redmond firm recently revealed a complete overview of the many new features to come within One Outlook.

After Windows 10, the Copilot AI assistant comes to One Outlook

Starting in September 2024, all users of the current version of Outlook and the Mail application will be kindly invited to switch to a unified version of Microsoft’s mail client. Renamed One Outlook, the new messaging service, often considered more demanding and less ergonomic by first users, obviously does not intend to stop there.

As proof, the company led by Satya Nadella has just revealed the list of new features that will soon be added to the email client. Among them, we will notably find the integration of Copilot, the virtual assistant for Windows systems based on artificial intelligence.

Whether it is its services or its operating systems, the American giant seems to be banking on AI more than ever. As a reminder, the site Windows Central recently confirmed that Copilot is also coming to Windows 10.

The new Outlook is full of functions

Among the other notable new features in preparation for One Outlook, we also find the possibility of dragging and dropping emails and attachments into the office, voice dictation, reorganization of folders, or even the arrival of a offline mode.

Here is the list of the main new features in preparation for One Outlook recently revealed by Microsoft:

  • Automatic capitalization
  • Collapsible headers in message list
  • Conditional formatting
  • Copilot
  • Drag and drop emails and attachments to desktop
  • Voice dictation
  • Preserving declined meetings
  • Support for EML and MSG files
  • Added a File and Teams tab to Outlook search
  • Reorganization of folders
  • Inking (Draw tab) when composing an email
  • Offline support
  • Outbox folder
  • Formatting images
  • Support for POP3 accounts
  • PST file support
  • Message reminder
  • S/MIME
  • “Save as” for attachments (choose the folder you want to save the file in)
  • Sharing local files from Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Shared calendar notifications for business accounts

Obviously, Microsoft will continue to collect different feedback in order to further improve its email service. Although it will probably take a little more time before it manages to replace its predecessor in the hearts of users, we can bet that this new unified version will still end up convincing the most skeptical among you.
