It’s the end of an era: As of June 15, Microsoft will no longer support Internet Explorer after 27 years. The Microsoft Edge browser is now finally taking over the tasks of the standard browser under Windows 10 and Windows 11.
In 2021, the Redmond-based company announced that it wanted to “retire” the classic Internet browser. Microsoft Edge, which is related to Google Chrome, is the designated successor. For some professional users, the old program survives at least partially in the new browser.
As Microsoft reports, they are aware that there are some applications that do not work without the resources of the old browser. The so-called legacy mode can help here. However, this will be unimportant for most home users. So you can safely uninstall Internet Explorer.
