While File Explorer will soon lose some functionality, it also seems to be causing some minor issues.
Windows 11 bug causes high CPU usage
Unfortunately, the May Patch Tuesday release didn’t go smoothly. Since May 9, some Windows 11 users have been experiencing abnormal CPU usage with File Explorer. Although the issue only affects a small portion of customers using the 21H2 and 22H2 versions of the operating system, and even if it is relatively easy to circumvent, it has been around for more than a month. left unresolved.
If the Redmond firm has somewhat taken its time to react, it has finally confirmed the existence of the problem. Better yet, it will shortly offer a fix.
Microsoft finally reacts and will offer a patch
As you will have understood, the problem concerns File Explorer and leads to abnormally high CPU usage. The latter manifests itself more precisely when users seek to verify the effective access permissions from the “Advanced security settings” dialog box for shared files and folders. After clicking “View Effective Access”, users may receive the following message: ” Calculation of effective access… » The results of the query may then not be displayed, and explorer.exe may continue to use the processor, even if the dialog box has been closed.
From its official website, Microsoft has announced that it is working on a patch to remedy this unfortunate bug. It should logically be published a little later in the month. As a temporary solution, the manufacturer offers its customers to restart their computer and/or disconnect, then reconnect to their account.
