In 2024, Microsoft intends to continue its efforts around the development of its artificial intelligence. After the announcement of Copilot Pro, the Redmond firm teased some developments around the integration of AI in Windows 11 at the end of last week.

The blog post from February 8, 2024, which details the new features of Build 26052 available via the Dev and Canary channels for Insider members, reveals that Copilot now reacts when text is copied. Instead of the traditional Copilot icon at the bottom left of the screen, the latter takes the shape of a pen. By clicking on it, it is possible to select one of the following three options: Sent to chat, to send the copied text as a request to Copilot, Explain so that the AI explains it and Summarize to summarize it.

Microsoft adds that in the future it will be possible to drag and drop an image onto the Copilot icon in order to automatically integrate it into a new query. “Copilot can then tell you what’s in the image, and in the future it might even help you edit images”, explains The Verge.

The American media also relays that Microsoft communicated last week about the integration of Copilot with Notepad. Version 11.2401.25.0 of the note-taking application, available to members of the Windows Insiders program, gets a new option called Explain with Copilot. Available by selecting text and right-clicking on it, it will provide detailed explanations in the blink of an eye.
