Windows 11 could finally fix the biggest flaw in the taskbar

Could the Windows 11 taskbar be placed on the top of the screen soon? It could well be, if we are to believe a renowned leaker. A real technical challenge for Microsoft, which has made this bar the nerve center of its new OS.

With Windows 11, Microsoft has completely overhauled the taskbar, developing it from scratch to become the center of the ecosystem. As a result, it is “stuck” on the bottom of the display, but it will soon be possible to be able to change that.

Some of the users indeed like place the taskbar at the top of the screen. Windows 11 could soon welcome this “novelty” according to the Albacore leaker who shares his experience on Twitter.

Windows 11 could allow us to change the position of the taskbar

Albacore publishes a rather amusing video of Build preview 25309 reserved for Insiders. According to him, one can change the location of the taskbar, but not everything will go as planned. Indeed, by clicking on an icon, it opens a window… at the bottom of the screen. Not very practical.

The implementation therefore seems to be in a still embryonic phase and Microsoft has a lot of work to do before delivering a decent copy. It must be said that this bar can cause a lot of problems, it being thought of above all as a feature placed at the bottom of the display for more ease of use.

With Windows 11, the taskbar has received many new features. Now placed in the center (default), it includes many new menus (which can be disabled) such as Widgets, the conversation menu or even multitasking. Recently, it welcomed a new search window using artificial intelligence added on Bing. For the moment, we have no information on the arrival of this modular taskbar on Windows 11. If the Redmond firm is satisfied with the result, we could see this feature arrive in a future update, why not this one? October 2023. In any case, it will be necessary to watch for the updates available in the dedicated tool of the operating system.
