Subscribers to the Dev channel of the Insider program will be able to test the new battery and energy management.
Microsoft has just announced the deployment of Windows 11 Build 23506a version of the operating system that is only available to testers who subscribe to the Windows Insider Program Dev channel. This update brings a number of new features, but one of them promises to make life much easier for users. Redmond engineers have indeed modified the “Battery Usage” menu interfaceaccessible in System > Battery and power.

If this announcement is, a priori, nothing very exciting, users will nevertheless learn to appreciate this change on a daily basis. Not only will the ‘Battery usage’ menu change to ‘Energy & Battery usage’, but it will also display total power consumption as well as computer emissions data. As MS Power User points out, “this tool is particularly useful for laptops, as it allows users to easily switch between viewing power consumption by app and monitoring battery level.” To do this, simply click on the selector accessible on the same screen.
Windows 11 release on Dev channel improves battery management interface
Windows 11 Build 23506 testers will get a sneak peek at other new features. From many other additionswe will thus mention:
- passwordless experiences with Windows Hello for Business
- warnings when copying and pasting dangerous passwords
- improved local file sharing, with a new search field, more suggested contacts and Outlook sharing
- new post-OOBE (Out of Box Experience) experiences, which allow you to personalize your experience with Windows 11 at the very 1st launch
In addition, Microsoft announces that “the preview of Windows Copilot, which began rolling out with Build 23493, is now available to all Windows Insiders in the Dev channel. A restart will probably be necessary to display it”.
