Again processors are now compatible with Windows 11.
Last July, Microsoft announced that Windows 11 was growing. In a logic of extending its operating system to a greater number of configurations, the firm has discreetly updated the installation prerequisites.
Windows 11: still standing still?
Launched last year, Windows 11 is a particularly demanding OS in terms of system requirements on your computer. While we could hope that time would allow compatibility to be extended to as many devices as possible, it is clear that the operating system is still particularly strict in terms of hardware requirements. And this, despite the promises made by Microsoft.
Indeed, the American firm has repeatedly expressed its desire to deploy Windows 11 to more PCs. But at present, many users are still unable to switch to the operating system. Remember also that if Microsoft is satisfied with the evolution of its OS, various data nevertheless show a certain slowness in terms of adoption.
Windows 11 having now been upgraded to version 22H2, the site Windows Latest recently found that the Mountain View firm had quietly updated the list of supported configurations.
A configuration that evolves… gently
Released last September, the 22H2 update (also called Windows 11 2022 Update) adds support for new processors, starting with the Intel 13e generation. Note that if Microsoft allowed the compatibility of certain older processors (Core X and Xeon W) last year, the firm has however confirmed that we should not hope to see new PCs equipped with AMD Zen and Intel 7 processors.e generation to receive the latest version of the operating system. Microsoft will therefore focus its efforts on newer processors.
As mentioned by our colleagues from Windows LatestMicrosoft’s strategy seems to encourage as many customers as possible to switch to new hardware if they want to be able to take advantage of Windows 11. If the 22H2 update has obviously made it possible to extend the compatibility of the OS to more configurations, it still remains a very restrictive OS.
