Windows 11 has made major changes for the widget feature in a new pre-release from Microsoft. In the future, you will not only be able to use fields from Microsoft apps here, but also from third-party providers.

As Microsoft announces in the company blog, Facebook is starting with a Facebook Messenger widget. To add this to your collection, all you have to do is install the latest version from the Microsoft Store and add it with the + symbol. More widgets are set to follow in the coming months and will be deployed in the same way.

Currently, the third-party widgets are only available to participants in the Windows 11 Insider program for evaluation purposes. It is currently unknown when the feature will be released. In all likelihood, however, it will be rolled out with one of the next quarterly feature updates.
