Windows 11: Microsoft “annoys” users with unsupported PCs with watermarks – this is how you get rid of it

Microsoft not long ago started showing a watermark in the bottom right corner on PCs running Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. What has so far only occurred on devices in the test program has now been seen in the “wild”.

As WindowsLatest reports, the Redmond company has adjusted and simplified the notice accordingly. Instead of the operating system identifier and system version that was shown to Windows Insiders, a general note is now used that refers to the settings. There you will get information about what hardware you need to replace to get rid of the watermark.

Remove watermark with on-board tools

But that doesn’t have to be the case, because there is already a solution that you can use to customize the display. All you have to do is adjust the relevant registry entries in your operating system. Just follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key and R on your keyboard to open the command execution.
• give regedit to open the Windows registry.
• Searches from the right column HKEY_CURRENT_USER out and opens control panel by double-clicking.
• Look for the entry here UnsupportedHardwareNotificationCache.
• Right-click to open the menu and open Edit.
• Changes the value SV2 DWORD from 1 to 0.
• Save the changes, close the window and then restart the PC.

After restarting your computer, the watermark should no longer appear on your desktop. Of course, this does not mean that your PC now meets the minimum requirements – this is a purely cosmetic solution. It remains to be seen how long this loophole will remain open.
