Windows 11 will offer daily changing background images and background information from the in-house search engine Bing.

Windows 11 is continuously being developed by Microsoft. In addition to bug fixes and real construction sites, there are also new functions that are supposed to make use more pleasant. Such a function has now been published in the development channel.
As the Redmond company announced on their blog, participants in the Insider program can now use the Spotlight collection. This is nothing more than a daily changing background image for your desktop. The function can be found in the settings under Personalization.

The start is currently being made with a recording of Whitehaven Beach in Australia. If that’s too summery for you or if you’re dissatisfied with a picture, you can change the background manually by right-clicking on the new spotlight icon. The icon is automatically placed on your desktop after activating the Spotlight collection.
If you want to know exactly what you are seeing on your screen, a double-click takes you to the in-house search engine Bing. The pictures and the information provided about the places shown come from here. So far, the information is only available in English, but localization in German is already being planned.
The selection is currently limited to curated content from Microsoft via Bing. It is not yet known whether you can exclude topics in the future. The feature is expected to be rolled out with the upcoming function update in autumn 2022.
