Windows 10: still and always more popular than Windows 11 with gamers
It’s no secret that since its launch in October 2021, Windows 11 has encountered many difficulties in attracting users. If, over the updates, the OS has begun to gain popularity, it is clear that the transition from Windows 10 to the new version is still somewhat laborious. Obviously, this observation also applies to PC gamers. Last February, almost a year and a half after its deployment, only 30% of Steam players claimed to have switched to Windows 11.
This slow adoption of Windows 11 can be explained in different ways. First of all, the hardware requirements were particularly demanding at launch. In addition, Windows 10 has long established itself as a reliable and efficient operating system, thus creating a bond of trust with its customers. Note also that it has certain features that have now disappeared in Windows 11. As proof of its popularity, the OS launched in July 2015 and is still used by 60.51% of players today.
More than a third of Steam gamers have switched to Windows 11
If Windows 11 still has a long way to go to hope to surpass its elder, note that more than a third of users have now switched to the latest version of the operating system. Yes, Windows 11 took advantage of the month of May that has just passed to touch the hearts of 33.99% of Steam players, thus gaining 0.6 points compared to the previous month. For its part, and although it is still far ahead, Windows 10 has nevertheless seen a drop of 0.24 points.
Of course, we will continue to follow the progress of Windows 11 with Steam players over the coming weeks. It remains to be seen whether the latter will succeed in surpassing the market share of Windows 10 before the deployment of the new version of Windows, potentially scheduled for next year. For the time being, it is still far from being won…
