Have gamers massively adopted Windows 11 ? This is a question that we could legitimately ask ourselves after the launch of the operating system last October. And we are entitled to a first answer this week…

It is thanks to a survey conducted by Valve that we are able to get an idea of the level of adoption of Windows 11 among Steam players. Indeed, the American firm carries out a monthly survey aimed at identifying the components preferred by its users. Among all these data, we obviously find the operating systems.

Windows rules the world!

Thus, we learned that 16.84% of Steam customers owned a Windows 11 PC last March. This represents an increase of about 1.25% compared to February. If the adoption of the new Microsoft OS seemed to stagnate lately, Windows 11 is still in second place among the operating systems most used by players. However, it is far behind Windows 10 and its 74.69% (-1%). In third position, we find Windows 7 at 4.14% (+0.06%).

Simply put, Windows smashes the competition with a total share of 96.57% of Steam users. Apple weighs only 2.43% with macOS, and Linux, around 1%. For the rest, Intel dominates in terms of processors (69.34%). NVIDIA leads on GPUs (77.13%), with the GTX 1060, GTX 1650, and RTX 2060 clearly favored. Finally, gamers mostly opt for 8 GB of RAM and Full HD screens.
