Made official last April, the tabs in File Explorer are probably one of the most anticipated additions by Windows 11 customers. But rest assured, your patience should finally soon be rewarded!
Windows 11: a feature that knows how to be long overdue
Available since last month, the 22H2 version of Windows 11 must still be enriched with some features planned to land in occasional updates called Moment 1 and Moment 2. Among them, we obviously find the tabs of the explorer of files which should therefore not take long to point the tip of their nose.
Since the announcement of the tabs within File Explorer by Microsoft, many users of Windows 11 then began to hope to see this feature land as soon as possible. Already accessible for members of the Dev channel since last June, the tabs should finally arrive in everyone’s hands this October. A new element has also confirmed that their launch is imminent.
Soon the arrival of tabs in the File Explorer
A few weeks after rolling out File Explorer tabs to the Insider Preview dev channel, they are now available to all channel users. Build 22621.675 is therefore available in Windows Update as KB5019509, meaning that the feature is ready to be launched to the general public.
Here is what Microsoft says about its new File Explorer:
“We are improving the File Explorer. It now includes tabs to help you organize your File Explorer sessions just like you do in Microsoft Edge. On the new File Explorer home page, you can pin important files for quick and easy access. »
As you will have understood, it is now only a matter of time before the tabs appear in the file explorer. We remind you that if you don’t want to wait a few more days, you can already activate four hidden features of Windows 11 22H2, including the File Explorer tabs.
