A new function is being tested in the Microsoft Store on Windows 11. This is intended to prevent applications in use on the PC from closing when the user launches updates.

continues to be refined gradually and, from the beginning, the Microsoft Store has been an essential part of it. Thus, the application store also evolves regularly. Recently, with Build 25131 of the Insider program, a new operation for updating applications is being tested. The goal ? Avoid the untimely closing of certain software.
Indeed, when you open the Microsoft Store to trigger application updates there, some of them, if open, tend to close to relaunch once the installation is complete. This can unfortunately cause the loss of some unsaved data. To no longer encounter this problem, Microsoft explains that it has “Improved updates when clicking update buttons in the Microsoft Store. We ignore the apps you have open, so you don’t lose important work. You can manually update apps later.»
A faster, smoother Microsoft Store
In other words, as a security measure, the Microsoft Store will not activate an app update if it detects that it is open on your PC. The Redmond giant also promises faster and smoother navigation on its application store. Count in particular on native support for ARM64 architectures for a faster and more efficient experience on the machines concerned – we are necessarily looking at the side of the Volterra project.
For the moment, this version of Windows 11 is in testing and we should not therefore expect its deployment to the general public for a few months. At the same time, the Microsoft Store will make it easy to restore your applications to a new computer. Also, remember that Android apps are coming to Windows 11 in France via the Amazon Appstore.
