Users registered in the test program can give their opinion on a new interface for those used to opening a large number of applications.
Microsoft, which continues to improve Windows 11 in small steps, benefits the members of its Insider program, invited to give their opinion on these developments.
A taskbar that shows more open software
The latest beta version of Windows 11 numbered “25163” brings something new to find in the taskbar. The latter has been extensively redesigned, including displaying the icons in the center of the screen, along with the Start menu.
Microsoft is now considering a new “…” button that would allow users who are used to opening multiple applications during their working day or those with low definition screens to find them more easily in the taskbar.
This new button would be located on the far right of the list of open applications. Clicking it would open a drop-down menu giving access to other open software on the PC.
This new behavior could, if it appeals to the first users, integrate the next Windows 11 update.
Microsoft improves its file sharing system between devices
This new test version also offers new features for sharing with nearby devices, its equivalent of AirDrop, well known to users of Apple devices.
Microsoft announces support for the UDP protocol, which will work in conjunction with Bluetooth to improve detection of systems, including desktop PCs, and file sharing.

A new option for sharing with OneDrive is also appearing. It is now possible from the sharing menu to click on the OneDrive button to automatically upload file it to their storage space, then send a link to a recipient so that the latter can retrieve it, without having to open the OneDrive application or connect to the online service via their browser.
While Microsoft is working to enrich Windows 11 over time, the publisher has drastically revised its update program and returned to a cycle of major versions every three years, with a possible Windows 12 in sight. which would be scheduled for 2024.

To be completely honest, Windows 11 seems to us to be a good evolution of Windows 10. Beyond the very marketing aspect linked to the surprise effect (Windows 10 was presented as the last of the last, remember) and to the mainly graphical redesign of the interface, the update brings a bit of clarity and modernity that are welcome after six years spent with an OS designed to reconcile Microsoft and its audience. We also like the discreet details that make it more functional, such as the improved snap and anchor groups, or even the refined management of virtual desktops. Finally, we are really convinced by the redesign of the Microsoft Store. By agreeing to return to the exclusivity reserved for UWPs, Microsoft is effectively hitting where it is not expected and finally compels itself to catch up on Apple and Google.
