An Austrian user of Microsoft’s latest OS recently discovered an anomaly which, against all expectations, would speed up the loading time of File Explorer, making navigation much smoother. If you’re disappointed with Windows 11’s performance, this bug might just be an unexpected solution to some of your everyday computing problems.

Boost Explorer with F11

So, how to take advantage of this tweak from the other side of the Alps? Nothing could be simpler: if you find that your navigation in Windows File Explorer is slowed down, or even jerky, simply press the F11 key on your keyboard the first time to go to full screen (don’t forget the combination Fn+F11 if you have a computer keyboard rich in shortcuts), then press the same key again to return to your original display.

Immediately, the navigation in your folders and the display speed of your files will be transfigured. As if your computer had been reset or just coming out of a full reboot.

The question now is why switching Explorer to fullscreen mode gives Windows 11 such a boost, and
if Microsoft does not find a solution there to improve its new file manager a little more. We must also cross our fingers so that a possible update does not come soon to put an end to this unexpected tweak.
