WINDOWS 12

Windows 12 is apparently coming sooner than expected. New information from Microsoft points to a clear release period and a somewhat strange-looking function.

  • Microsoft hints that the successor to Windows 11 will appear soon.
  • The first users should be able to enjoy Windows 12 as early as 2024.
  • A feature of the new operating system is apparently a floating taskbar.

There are usually at least 5 years between Microsoft’s Windows versions, but Windows 11, which was introduced in 2021, will probably be replaced by a successor much faster. The Windows 12 operating system is to be made available to the first users as early as 2024, and broad user groups should then have access in the following year.

At least that’s what the Windows-related website Windows Latest reports based on insider sources and the Microsoft Build developer conference recently held by Microsoft. In one of the presentations, a screenshot of the Calendar app is briefly visible, showing an entry about “the next generation of Windows”. According to Windows Latest, this means Windows 12.

Also, at this year’s also recently held Ignite conference, Microsoft revealed what many viewers may have thought was a bug: a version of Windows 11 with a floating taskbar. Windows Latest assumes that a planned feature for Windows 12 was accidentally shown here. After all, Windows 11 usually has a fixed taskbar.

So far, however, all the information is still speculation. Microsoft has not yet confirmed that they are working on a Windows 12 version. It is very likely that the technology company is working on a Windows 11 successor.
