Surprisingly, specialized webcams that support Windows Hello are still rare. Finally, Microsoft’s secure sign-in system using fingerprint, biometrics and facial recognition technology is a unique feature of Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is logical that users would want to pair a desktop PC or older notebook with a Windows Hello-compatible camera in order to enjoy the practical take advantage of security.
Web cameras that support Windows Hello have more than just an optical sensor. They also have an infrared “depth camera” that captures the contours of your face. You need to train a Windows Hello camera to recognize you by looking into the sensor once or twice. This severely limits the number of webcams that support Windows Hello, but there are still enough models to give you a good choice. Below we present five recommended webcams.

Editor’s recommendation: Lenovo 500 FHD webcam
Modern connection: The Lenovo webcam uses a modern USB-C connection, can be swiveled and can therefore be easily adjusted to the right position – in contrast to other stationary webcams. The only downside is that it can only be clamped to the PC and not mounted on a tripod. However, the camera has a standard brass threaded hole on the bottom to accept a tripod or other stand. Note that the Lenovo 500 FHD webcam does not have its own microphone.
Dell UltraSharp webcam

The Dell UltraSharp WB7022 offers a variety of features: HDR, auto focus, digital zoom (up to 5x), crop, brightness, saturation and more. What is unusual is that the WB7022 offers neither a fixed focus nor a fixed field of view (FOV). Dell’s AI frame crops the image to keep your face in the center, and you have the ability to configure the field of view from 90 degrees, 78 degrees, and down to a narrow 65 degrees. Dell applies HDR, temporal and spatial noise reduction to keep you looking good. There’s no microphone – Dell uses your laptop instead – and a magnetic privacy flap you can use for better privacy.
Logitech Brio Ultra HD webcam

Logitech’s Brio continues to be one of the best webcams, largely because it’s one of the few autofocus webcams to shoot in 4K resolution. Windows Hello is part of the game. The Brio has a variety of features to keep you looking good, and thanks to Windows Hello support, signing in is a snap. The Logitech Brio Ultra HD webcam is back in stock. That was very different last year. Since this popular camera was constantly sold out and expensive. Logitech’s Brio Ultra HD will still be too expensive for many users. But a legion of loyal fans also consider them the gold standard of PC webcams, with or without Windows Hello.
Kaysuda CA20

Kaysuda CA20 on Amazon
Kaysuda’s CA20 is a 1080p upgrade of its 720p webcam, which offered similar features. However, as users note, the image quality isn’t as high as some had hoped, especially since 1080p webcams without Windows Hello already exist. However, the camera works well and includes a pair of omnidirectional microphones to enhance Zoom and Team calls. According to Kaysuda, the CA20 has a privacy switch. While the camera does not come with its own tripod, it does come with a tripod socket so you can attach your own tripod. Otherwise, the practical laptop clip should suffice.
Mouse CM02-A
Mouse CM02-A at Amazon
Certainly not the best brand name. This MouseComputer 720p webcam is highly rated on Amazon, but users have complained that you need to make sure of two things. Windows must be up to date and the webcam must be connected directly to your laptop. It is possible that the feature of Windows 10 21H1 update mentioned above was specifically designed to address this issue. Unfortunately there is no privacy shutter.
