“The public service has a major role model and steering function when it comes to sustainable economy. The police, as a large blue light organization, takes this role seriously and is examining existing options for switching to zero-emission vehicles,” said Director General for Public Safety Franz Ruf. “By testing vehicles with alternative forms of drive, we can gain the necessary experience as to whether problem-free use can be guaranteed 100 percent and what safety-related special requirements are necessary for operation by the police,” says Ruf. “In addition, the exchange of experience with other European police forces is to be intensified from spring 2024,” added Peter Skorsch, head of Group IV/A (economy, space and technology).
