When hygge meets home office

Christmas is just around the corner and, as always, you can't start thinking about the right gifts early enough. And: What do I actually wish for myself for Christmas? One or two of our editors at least already know what should be on their personal wish lists this year. One of them will report on it every week. Let yourself be inspired by these wish and gift ideas.

At Christmas time I always have a special feeling – this inner warmth when the candles flicker slightly, the smell of cinnamon stars pours out of the stove and I can retreat with a good book, a hot drink next to me and, since this year, with mine Puppy on your lap. Do you know the term hygge? That's exactly what it is for me. This cozy atmosphere that unfolds in your stomach when everything around is lovingly designed.

This year the term has reached a new dimension for me – and that thanks to the home office. I became even more aware of the importance of a cozy, beautiful home. That is why this year my wish-list mainly includes things that make my home even more hyggeless.

Morning coffee removes grief and worry

I confess: I am an absolute coffee lover. In fact, I worked on the side in a coffee roastery for a year – just for fun (well, the free flat white after every shift certainly played a role). For me, coffee is not just a drink, but my morning ritual, my enjoyable start to the day and my little break in the afternoon. But unfortunately I still don't have the right portafilter machine.

I've had an eye on them for a long time Sage espresso machine thrown. Thanks to the integrated grinder, the beans are freshly ground. The milk frother enables friends and family members to be pampered with all kinds of coffee specialties – from cappuccino to latte macchiato to flat white.

It all depends on the look

For me, coffee and hygge go hand in hand. But it's not just the drink, the shell also plays a role. I've been looking for a long time Tableware set wanted that has both simple elegance and a certain touch of sophistication. The plates and cups in the "It's my match" collection by Villeroy and Boch meet my taste exactly, can be combined in many ways and, thanks to their rich colors, add an elegant dash of color to the coffee table. At Christmas, the dishes would take a place directly on the festive table.

At the top of my wish list: books, books and more books

Maybe you can guess it, but I love the little breaks from everyday life. I've already mentioned it one time or another: a good one book In my hand is pure luxury. Especially in this year, when like many others I did not travel far, books take me to completely new places.

The author Jojo Moyes always manages to bring me closer to distant countries and cultures in her stories. Your latest book will not appear until March 2021, but a pre-order for me from my loved ones would be a great surprise. Because then I can indulge in anticipation for a whole three months.

Lights shine even after Christmas Eve

Warm lights in particular ensure a cozy atmosphere in the dark season. I enjoy decorating the apartment with fairy lights and candles. But these only give the room a warm shimmer. In order to be able to read properly, it takes a little more – however, I often find the ceiling lamp too bright. Therefore, it will make one this year Arc lamp on my wish list for Christmas.

Chic and yet comfortable in the home office

Speaking of cosiness! The drink in one hand, the book in the other. But something is missing: whether a comfortable pajama, a soft dressing gown or just a cozy hoody. Especially with the home office – and I think almost everyone who was suddenly able to work from home this year agrees with me – my style has changed significantly in the direction of convenience. Of course, I still want to look good – who wants to sit in a dressing gown in video conferences?

For me, Lena Gercke's Leger brand meets exactly this combination of comfort and business suitability. If the 'Diana' sweater would be under the Christmas tree, the other festive days would be stylistically secured. And I'm sure I can hide one or the other Christmas kilo underneath, cuddle up on the sofa and hopefully enjoy my beloved drink under the new glow of lights – even now this thought makes my heart feel very hyggelig!
