Christmas is just around the corner and, as always, you can't start thinking about the right gifts early enough. And: What do I actually wish for myself for Christmas? One or two of our editors at least already know what should be on their personal wish lists this year. One of them will report on it every week. Let yourself be inspired by these wish and gift ideas.

This Christmas is of course all about – well, you know. My whole year, which flew by (why is it actually New Year's Eve again? And how could we count down to this total failure in 2019?), Was completely different: I went on a long tour of Japan in spring and on many looking forward to great concerts. But I firmly believe that 2021 will be better. In order to better bridge the time until we can travel again and experience exciting things outside of our small circle, there are a few surprising things on my wish list this year.

Still all the bowls in the cupboard?

One of my most beautiful travel experiences: A cooking class in picturesque Hội An, Vietnam. In the open air we learned to prepare traditional summer rolls and the typical Vietnamese phở soup. These scents – and first the taste! Since then I have been trying to beam myself back to this magical place with the small alleys and fairytale lanterns regularly with a good Phở. The only problem: a Phở is not a thin soup, but a meal with an insert. It looks stupid in my deep plates, other bowls are too small. So I wish for a big one bowl, which I will soon be able to sip my Vietnamese Phở from – and maybe a Japanese ramen one day.

Wave good, all good

No, I'm not particularly good at surfing – but I really enjoy doing it: Plunge into the waves passionately and risk one or the other almost comedic fall, severe muscle soreness and nasty bumps when you get on the board again the head flies. Practice makes perfect … but where should you train if you can't fly to Sri Lanka or California? Well, at home, on his Balance board. I've already tried it with a friend and in the end a handful of adults fought over the little board. Super exhausting but also super fun. Then now for me too, please!

Home is where the harbor is

I was born and raised in Hamburg's bacon belt, and I've been living in the middle of the city for six years. But: Although you think you've already seen it all, there are still many small corners that are exciting and suitable for excursions in lockdown. I've already given the book away, now I wish it for myself. By the way, it is available for many other cities.

Please, please, dear Santa!

Opinions differ about tea machines. I drink tons of tea (mhmm, Ceylon from Sri Lanka!), But always thought that I don't need Chichi (but I like chai): Put tea in a filter, put water on it, done. Then I recently had this with friends Tea machines seen and I'm hooked: automatic lowering of the filter after steeping time, warming function … Bye, cold, bitter tea! If this isn't the perfect Christmas present, what then?

Choose green!

If I can't travel to the fragrant landscapes, they have to come to my balcony. Already in 2020 – thanks to Corona – I turned my balcony into a green oasis and harvested strawberries, salads, cucumbers and herbs. This project will of course enter the next round in spring 2021. With Seeds can you always make me happy – who would have thought that in 2019?
